During the Industrial Revolution many inventions influenced the fashion industry. Examples are:
-The Flying Shuttle- John Kay, 1733. Allowed one weaver to weave wider fabrics, could be mechanized, allowing automatic machine looms. -Spinning Mule- Samuel Crompton, 1779. Is used to spin cotton and other fibers in mills. -Spinning Jenny- James Hargreaves, 1764. It is a multi spindle spinning frame. This made it easier to produce yarn, a worker was able to work 8 or more spools at once and this number grew to 120. -Cotton gin-Eli Whitney, machine automated the seperation f cottonseed from short staple cotton fiber. -Elias Howe- American inventor and sewing machine pioneer.Made sewing machine using lockstitch design. Had 3 essential features- needle with eye, a shuttle operating below cloth, and an automatic feed.
